My vision in my right eye is excellent but my left eye is blurred and double/ghosting is evident. Iknow that it is early the nurses tell me that it is probably inflammation but it concerns me that i have this prblem in one and not the other. It is offsetting me and i cannot drive
please any helpo that you give me would be fantastic as i'm worried thanks

There are numerous causes for double vision in one eye following LASIK. Your doctor will need to check you thoroughly to determine the cause. For most of the causes, there are treatments (ususaally enhancements).
The most common cause if residual astigmatism. I do not know how much astigmatism you started off with, but some people can end up with astigmatism that can cause the double vision. As well, irregular astigmatsm, central islands, and decentered ablations can cause double vision (all of these can be picked up on topography).
There are some ther, less common causes of double vision. The can include flap wrinkles and perhaps severe dry eye - although generally theses conditions would cause other symptoms.
I of course can not guess why you have double vision - but it is importnat for you to see your surgeon and get evaluated.

Best of luck

dear bill
thank you for the advice
its two weeks since the op and i still have pretty bad ghosting in the left eye
I did have a small astgmatism in this eye prior to the op but they said that all went well
is it common for one eye to have this delayed effect after treatment
if not and i do need treatment
what experience do you have of people having corrective lasik treatment after to correct the fault
I know that it is dependent on the cause of the fault

thanks once again for taking the time

regards

pete

To answer your question - I need to know the cause. So please work with your doctor to find the cause and then we can talk about the options for improving things.

Best of luck

I got the lasik procedure done on both my eyes on 3rd june 2005. My vision stabilised in about 3 days and it has been the same ever since.
I have slight halos when seeing in the night.

Also my left eye vision seems very crisp, but the right eye vision is not that great, there is slight blur. Also there is some double vision in the case of my right eye.

The power i was corrected for is as follows

left eye : -4.26 spherical and -2.38 cylindrical 10 deg axis

right eye: -4.45 spherical and -3.06 cylindrical
170 deg axis.

this was some average power information given in the wavefront scan report other than the scan images.

now after 15 days i have very good clear vision in my left eye but with my right eye i have two problems.

1. the right eye has slight double vision and the distance of the ghost image from the original image increases as i move away from it.

Also this ghost image strenght increases if seeing a bright object in a relatively dark background.

2. The level of light perceived in the right eye seems slighty (hardly noticable) less that in my right eye.

3. I feel that the blur in the right eye is due to the double vision - is that possible ... or is it under-correction/irregular astigmatism.

Also during the procedure ... after the suction ring was put and the flap was made i had a brief period of blindness in the right eye and left eye ... after which i was asked to look at the red light .... in the case of the right eye i was not able to keep my eye still as i was able to with my left eye - as i felt that the light was moving in the case of my right eye when looking at the light.

the procedure was performed using Bausch & Lombs Zyoptix - 100.

The doctor has scheduled an appointment only after 1 month ( he saw me the next day after the procedure)

Should i go back and check with him before that.

What are the possible causes

and the possible remidies

thanks

Gopal

It's been 8 1/2 weeks since my initial surgery and I continue to have ghosting and blurred vision. I can see an overlap of letters when trying to read and this gets worse from a distance. The problem is with my left eye and the right eye is seeing much better.
During the first two weeks, if I looked at a tree, it was much like a Monet painting, leaves all smeared together. The people in the Lasik office told me not to worry, that it would take time to heal. It has improved slightly but I still have a bad smear and can not read street signs until I'm right on top of them.
Night lights are just overwhelming with huge balloons around all lights. It seems to be worse with red lights. I went back to my doctor last week and she put be back on pred forte for 6 weeks. I'm already using refresh tears about every 20 minutes for burning but sometimes it seems like the drops make my vision worse.
I'm starting to get the feeling that I've spent $4000 and ruined my eyes.
