Following my initial LASIK procedure in Jan 2000, (myopia, both eyes approximately -5.0)I was left with an irregular astigmatism in both eyes. The 'islands' were located far enough from the center of the cornea to allow for decent daylight vision, but my vision deteriorated rapidly in low light.
The surgeon performed a second LASIK procedure in June on my left eye. While the island was successfully flattened, so was the entire bottom half of the cornea. Currently, I am experiencing double vision, and unable to see clearly at any distance from this eye.
I have two questions:
1) Was I wrong to undergo a 2nd procedure with the wide beam technology? I have the sense that the surgeon was "gardening with a backhoe."
2) Should I wait for customized ablation technologies before additional procedures on either eye?
I personally would wait for customized LASIK. I do not know the specifics of your case, so I do not know the details as to whether it was worthwhile to attempt to correct things then(versus waiting 1-3 years for ucstomized LASIK)
Best of luck
