I had LASIK performed on my eyes in January, 2005. My vision stabilized at 20/20 the next day, and I had no problems for the rest of the winter and for most of the spring. At the beginning of June, I began experiencing dry, irritated eyes and didn't really know why this was happening so long after the surgery. My dry eyes have persisted now for several months. I am using restasis and have plugs in my lower tear ducts. Lately, I've been wondering if my dry eyes have less to do with my surgery and more to do with Doryx, an acne medication I started taking at the end of May. Is this a possibility, or can the onset of dry eyes occur 4 or 5 months after surgery? Please help...I am at my wit's end!

I think Doryx is a form of doxycycline, which in some cases, can actually help with dry eyes.
You should consider additional therapies
1. Oral Omega 3 fatty acids (like hydroeye)
2. Upper punctal plugs
3. Warm compresses
4. Moisture chambers
5. low dose topical steroids (like Alrex)
6. Lubricating gel at bedtime
7. Treat any underlying ocular allergy
Please discuss these issues with your doctor.
Best of luck
