You may have a subconjunctival hemorrhage, which is not uncommon. Just check with your doctor. Typically subconjunctival hemorrhages after LASIK will resolve in a matter of weeks.

I hope this helps

I also have a red streak in the middle of my right eye caused by my lasik surgery. I've had it for 3 years now. When my doctor looked at it a year after my surgery, he said it was 'not a problem' and 'happens a lot' so I didn't think any more of it.

If the read streak doesn't go away could it indicate possible problems. I ask because my right eye is my 'problem' eye. Drier than the other, gets blurry sometimes (probably cause of the dry eye)

Thanks,
-Jacque

I believe my doctor used a nidek 5000. My perscription was about -3.5. I had no dry eye before the surgery and no red streak. Now I have dry eye in both eyes but my right eye, the one with the streak, is worse. I had really bad dry eyes all the time at first, but now it's only bad in the morning. I also have slight ghosting and glare issues - but not debilitating but irritating.
Supposedly the streak is from the suction on my eye during the lasik.

My pupils were measured at 7mm before surgery - but I think they may be bigger. A lot of my low-light issues are because of my big pupils. I was told that glasses would not help my ghosting but I never took it any further since I can still drive and all.
My eyes get really dry on airplanes, around air-conditioning, heating, wind. The works. I have really bad dry eyes occasionally in the morning (where it's actually painfully uncomfortable) in the morning other times my eyes are dry but not painfully dry. A few drops fixes it up and I ALWAYS carry eye drops with me. I basicly traded my dependency on glasses for a dependency on drops.
They are much better now then they were 6 months or even a year after surgery. Things can and often do, get better with time.

had PRK done 2 weeks ago. A red streak developed in my left eye, which is probabaly now seeing 20/20 or 20/25 but it is drier than my right eye; and sometime ill feel a quick burst of pain right in the area of the red streak.

i use B&L moisture eyes by day and SYstane at night. The systane is much thicker and lasts longer but it blurrs vision so thats my night drop. But the B&L makes the vision clearer so i use that by day.

The only thing is the B&L says "single use only, discard immediately after use" whereas the systane it says it is reusable/
Anyone know if the "single use " only - is it bad to use it a few times? i hate wasting 35 cents in one shot.

I notice more ever
"side effects" every time I visit this site. I also have a red
streak in my right eye that occured as a result of my
surgery. I had the usual red bruises/spots after the sugery,
but they went away after about a month. One thin red
streak remains after 6 months, but this is also the worse of
my two very dry eyes. This is the same eye that also has a
"floater" that was never there before surgery. The Dr.
(actually, I've never talked to the Dr. who performed the
surgery since the op only his associates), assure me that
the floater was always there, I just couldn't see it.
