I had Lasik done on both eyes approximately 7 years ago. I am near sighted. Prior to lasik my vision was -13 with a very high astigmatism of -6. Gradually, my eyes seem to be worsening form a -1 to a -2 during the last few years. My doctor informed me that I had thin corneas and that re-treatment would be difficult (1999). I suffer from extremely blurred night vision, caused by flaring and halos. Is there anything I can do treat these symptoms with any of the recent advances in Lasik such as wave front? I would greatly appreciate any advice.

thank you
JC

You should first try hard contact lenses. You most likely have had a high correction with a small treatment zone which can induce sperical aberration and coma. This can be measured with a wavefront reading. If your cornea is too thin you should leave well enough alone. If it is not too thin, you could be a candidate for a wave front based PRK on the surface which doesn't require lifting the flap. get an evaluation from a LASIK surgeon in your area recommended by an opthalmologist who dosen't do LASIK.

I agree with Dr. Salz. A PRK or LASEK on top of the flap can be performed in patients with thin corneas. But you need a very careful evaluation to determine whether your cornea is stable, etc.

Best of luck

P.S. Dr. Salz can provide a second opinion, as he is in your area. Whoever you end up seeing, make sure you talk about PRK/LASEK and also make sure they carefully check your topography to make sure it is stable.
