I had LASIK in my right eye 7/2000 and am now at 20/30 (previously was -12 with severe astigmatism). My left eye LASIK (-8.5 with slight astigmatism) was aborted 7/2000 because of an incomplete flap.
It's now been 3 months and I'm ready to redo the left again. Apparently corneal thickness is NOT an issue for me. How do I ensure that I don't get the same aborted flap again? Any other issues the surgeon should be aware of?
Incomplete flaps can occur for a variety of reasons - they can be related to "tight lids" or can be due to the kerratome not flowing across the cornea smoothly. Sometimes the doctor can be in a situation where they can try to force things across when the microkeratome gets stuck- but the good one's will stop.
Recutting flaps are generally very straight forward - and your surgeon should be on his/her toes to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Please see my answer to your other question - which is that you should not try to do everything at once (LASIK enhancement on one eye, and recut the flap on this eye). See my other answer for more details
Best of luck
