I'm now two weeks post-op (actually 16 days).
At my 1-day post-op appointment, the doctor
confirmed I had some small scratches on the
right eye, but told me they'd heal in a few days
(the surgeon said the same thing just after the
procedure). After 5 days, the scratches were
healed, but the doctor told me there was
some blood under the flap that was causing
the "distortion" (much like astigmatism) I was
seeing. He told me it might take as long as a
month until it cleared.
At my one-week post-op, two days later, he
said he could see some progress in the right
eye. A few days later, my vision was worse
and I stopped in to see him.
He said that I have no striae or epithelial
ingrowth (which was welcome news, I'm a bit
of a "worry wart"). He said that the blood was
spreading out as it dissipated and would likely
"...get worse before it gets better." [my
paraphrasing]
The left eye was between 20/30 and 20/25, the
right is about 20/50 with intense concentration
to get it to accommodate. He feels everything
is progressing OK. I could use some
reassurance since I'd never heard of blood
under the flap in all my pre-surgery research.
And I'm going away for two weeks on Nov 4th.
Is a month a realistic timeframe, in general? I
realize it'd be hard to say without seeing my
eyes for yourself.
I also have some ghosting of bright objects
(tonight's full moon is a good example...I'm
seeing 3 or 4 slight ghosts around it). Is this
all related to the blood under the flap?
Without a doubt, my best vision is at a
distance in natural light. Fluorescent lights are
still very hard for me due to the glare.
Any info is appreciated. I realize that I'm still
healing and I'm not panicking. But I'd feel
better with some confirmation. Thanks!
