I am 5 weeks post op from Lasik surgery. My right eye was successful. My left eye has what my surgeon first described as a "blood clot" which he later clarified as a "smear of blood trapped between the 2 layers of the cornea". He indicated this is a complication seen in people who have excessively worn contacts in prior years. It is being treated by Predisolone SD OPT Sol 1% QID. There is also what he calls "an abrasion" on this eye cause by the flap folding during surgery. I am wondering about the expected course of treatment for this condition and the possible outcomes. There seems to be a conservative approach to this problem of the drops and wait and see vs a more aggressive approach of lifting the flap and irrigating out the blood. Thank you for your time.

Hopefully the blood will resolve on its own with time - but it depends how much blood is present and whether it is affecting your vision. If it was sever, one could lift the flap and washout the blood. It is impossible for me to comment whether it is better to wait or perform a washout since I do not know the severity of the situation.
Best of luck
