My left eye was refloated 2-weeks ago due to microstriae. The doctor now tells me that the microstriae is back. He recommends that I wait 3 to 6 months before proceeding with suturing since he had a patient with microstiae that significantly improved with time.
I am confused because you and other doctors have commented that microstiae should be addressed immediately. Should I do the suturing now or wait? Does microstriae actually correct itself over time?
Also, my doctor says that he no longer uses hypo. saline solution when he refloats because it has been ineffective. Should I press him to have me refloated using a saline solution?
I posted my history in an earlier message(1/22/01).
Your assistance with this matter would be appreciated.

In my experience, striae do not improve at all with waiting - but the striae can resolve immedidately with flap suturing. I am sp impressed with flap suturing that I have sutured a flap to remove striae at one week - with excellent results. The patient had 20/25 vision the day after the suturing (best corrected was 20/40 pre-suturing), and today came in for a check with 20/20 uncorrected vision (I sutured her flap 2 weeks ago and removed the suture last week).
I am happy to talk with you further, and you can even call my office on Monday
