Ectasia is a weakening of the cornea, that results in the return of myopia along with astigmatism. Depending on the severity, it may be possibly for contact lenses or glasses to complete correct the vision. But if the ectasia is more severe, more advanced surgeries may be required.
Intacs seems to be a helpful first line surgical treatment. Plastic cuved support rods are placed into the cornea - often stabalizing the cornea and improving its shaped. If intacs are successful, then patients mya get an improvement in their vision, and may be able to tolerate contact lenses better (if they could not tolerate them before the Intacs). But if this surgery fails, and the vision remains compromised - then the next step would be to consider a corneal transplant.
I hope this helps
Best of luck
