I have never seen this problem before. About 1 month after Lasik surgery I slept on my left side on my left eye. I woke up to extremely blurry vision for about 5 hours. When I saw the surgeon he informed me that he thought I temporarily wrinkled my cornea but I was fine. He told me to wear the goggles another week and see him again. I went back and he told me I was healed 100% and it would never happen again. About one month later it happened again, but this time my eye was red, tearing, double vision, and blurriness for 7 years. I saw a covering doctor who told me the same and that I may have to wear goggles for life! Have you ever heard of this before. I have been wearing goggles for over 2 months now because I am afraid I will damage my cornea for good. I also take Zomig for migraines. I did stop, as I was told, for one month before LASIK and for one week after. Can this medicine be stopping the healing process? My doctor does not think so. Any help you can give me I would appreciate. Otherwisse my left eye is great, my right eye slightly fluctuates(this is the problem eye.) Thanks!

Sounds like you may be sleeping with that eye down on the bed, pillow,or your arm. See what you can do about developing different sleep position habits.

The half-life of Zomig is three hours, so after about 15 hours the med should not be affecting you. Unless you used Zomig just before surgery and every 15 hours since, it is not likely that the medication will affect healing.
It seems highly unlikely that you will wear goggles forever. Although the cornea is never exactly the same after LASIK, it does heal. You may want to read http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/lasik_flap_heal.htm

Thanks for your responses. In the meantime, I did see my surgeon again. I have been sleeping with the goggles for 2 months now and he wants me to continue for one more month. He believes by this time, my flap should be attached securely enough that I should not wrinkle it again while sleeping. I will follow his advice and see what happens in a month. Thanks again.
