Hi Everyone,

This past weekend was the most depressed time of my life. I had lasik done about 4 years ago and my left eye is getting somewhat blurry. I have already gotten glasses but I can't help but feel that I am lacking something when I am out with my friends. I feel that I can't see that well. In the daytime its good but at night and in restaurants I just can't see that well. I felt so depressed this weekend. Especially after I went to look at some of the posts on surgical eyes. I have never been on that site but I sure regret going on. I thought about committing suicide after I went on. I just thought that is my halo effect going to get worst? I am really really scared. I am currently in law school and I just can't seem to concentrate on any work anymore. I really don't know if my eyes are that bad right now but I am just scare that it is going to get worst and worst until all I see are halos and starbursts when I go out at night.

I know that there is no point to regret it because what is done is done, but I am truly very scared... I haven't been myself and my boyfriend thinks that I am getting scared for nothing. He says if lasik is that bad then why did the FDA approved it. I guess he is right somewhat but I just want to know will my night vision get worst? I never really noticed it before, but like I said after I went on surgical eyes I just kept thinking about it when I went out at night. Now I am to the point where I am truly depressed.

I don't know if I am allowed to give out my e-mail address on-line but I sure would like to talk to someone privately about this.

The most likely cause of the symptoms you have described is that your myopia has worsened. On the down side, it would mean that you might need a second procedure (called an enhancement). On the upside - most likely it is nothing serious. Of course - there is only one way to find out - and that is to see your eye doctor.
Of course - there are a variety of causes to your situation - and it would be helpful to see your eye doctor for an exam to see what is going on and how to make things better.
I would be happy to answer any followup questions, but please rather than get depressed, please see your eye doctor.

Best regards

Hi Dr. Trattler and everyone,

Thanks for the reply. I went to see my eye doctor and he performed some tests on me. My eye looks fine and my doctor suggested that I do a touch up. I really do feel much much better. Although my left eye is now 1.25, but if I wear my glasses I see 20/20. I talked to my doctor about it and he assured me that everything is fine. I am a bit upset about my blurry left eye without glasses, but I guess I will just have to wear glasses. I do want to try to wear contact lens on my left eye. My doctor told me that I could try but he really think that I should get a touch-up. Needless to say, I will not go get a touch-up. Too scared of doing lasik again.

Originally before Lasik, my eye doctor told me that I can't wear contacts anymore that's why I had it done. I had a corneal infection on one of my eye, don't remember which one. But that wasn't the reason why I couldn't wear contacts, I don't really know what the reason was, but I think that it might have been dry eyes. So my doctor told me that I could try to wear contacts on my left eye, but he said that it might not be possible because lasik flattens out the cornea, and my eye might not be able to hold up the lens. Is this true? I went on surgical eyes, and it seems like a lot of people were trying contacts.

Either way, I think that I want to try wearing it, someone recommended GP lens, what is that? Is that suppose to give your eye more oxygen? Sorry about the depressed post previously. I have to say I tend to catastrophize things. I am prone to panic attacks ever since I was a little girl, so maybe that's why I was the way I was. But I do see really well with my glasses though. But you know I don't really want to wear glasses. Just knowing that I may be able to wear contacts on one eye makes me feel better.

Today I spoke with a lot of the staff at my doctor's office, and they just all seem so happy with their lasik results. My doctor told me that he has a lot of confidence in lasik, if not he would not have performed on himself, his family and his staff. I really felt a lot better after he said that. So I guess right now at this point, I just hope that I am able to wear contact lens on my left eye.
