Does anyone know the track-record for both the VISX S4 laser with CustomVue and the Allegretto Wave in regards to night time issues such as halos and starburst?
Two weeks ago, I had a LASIK procedure done with a doctor that used the VISX 4 laser with CustumVue and I have noticed mild to moderate Halos and Starbursts at night. During the day my eyesight is great.
My twin brother will be getting his LASIK done with a Doctor that will be using the Allegretto Wavelight in a few days. Will he have a better chance than me not to experience the simalar night time issues to begin with?

What was your pre-op pescription and pupil size? What is his pescription now? What size ablation zone did your laser give? I have heard the allegettero can give a larger ablation zone and a prolate ablation and some claim it offers reduced risks of night vision problems.

Thanks for your questions Ace but I am looking for a general answer from someone if Night Vision outcome are different if using the Allegretto versus the VISX Customvue for LASIK.

I don't know if you would be able to get any real answers to your question; I do not think results have been tracked by laser. You could always start or look for polls already done. I had Custom Intralase with VISX S4 in 12/05 and had halos/starbursts for the first few nights- they have since resolved. How are you doing? Good Luck to your brother.

I am not aware of any comparative studies between these 2 lasers looking at night vision.
