I had lasik performed on 4/17. Going into the surgery, my contact lens prescription was -4.75, -4.50. I was told I had a mild astigmatism and that neither my contacts nor my glasses corrected for the astigmatism.
I now have what my surgeon called "lasik induced astigmatism" in my right eye. The corneal topography shows no indication of corneal astigmatism however. My surgeon said he will consider an enhancement with the Visx Star S3 laser during which he would induce astigmatism on the other side of my cornea to balance things out.
I visited my ophthalmologist to obtain a second opinion. He believes I have lenticular astigmatism. He fitted me with a contact lens with 0 strength and a -.75 cyl??, and my vision is great!
He warned however that the right way to correct my vision surgically is with an AK incision(s).
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

First - you should not even consider an enhancement until the eye has healed for 3-4 months. I have seen plenty of patients with mild refractive errors who over the course of a few months had an improvement in their vision. In this situation, you may have an uneven epithelial surface causing the mild astigmatism in the eye.
But regardless of the cause - it is just too early to retreat. You can certainly where a cotact lens if needed for 2 months. Hopefully with time things will improve on their own, and you will not need any treatment.

I hope this helps
