Hi,

I'm new to this website but I hope a doctor can help answer a question (or concern) for me.

I'm 1 month post-lasik (VISX, Wavefront S4) with
moderate myopia and astigmatism (-4 and +1.00 in both eyes).

Overall the vision is good (20/20 on both) but at night I still see starbursts around light sources. No haloes or any other issues, just the starbursts.

The funny thing is the with just my left eye the light "spikes" go from the "10 to 4 o'clock" direction and with the right from the "2 to 7" direction so with both eyes I get the cross pattern.

Question 1): What is that with the left and right eyes seeing spikes 90 degrees apart?

Question 2): Could this be related to dryness toward the end of the day? (I don't suffer from dry eye but my eyes do feel a little dryer in the evening).

I'll be visiting my doctor in a week or so but I'd like to get some diffent opinions or perspectives on this?

Thank you.

It is impossible to know the cause of your visual aberrations - but the most common cause is residual refractive error. Of course, mild irregular astigmatism or other problems could be contributing to your visual changes. You should therefore see your doctor and get a complete exam.

Best of luck

thank you for the reply. The appt is coming up so hopefully I can get some answers. I realize that it's still early in the healing process but one can't help worrying.
