I was told at my pre-op appt. today that I have a "cold virus" in my eye. He had a 3 letter acronym for it, but I can't remember the intitials. He said that this virus can hang around for 6 weeks.

Should this delay my surgery? If so, how long?
Thanks!

Craig

ekc or epidemic keratocojunctivitis is the famous pink eye everyone is afraid of. it is a highly contagious eye infection, and unfortunately there are no drugs to rid the infection, only time to allow the virus to run it's course, just like a common cold.

absolutely you should postpone your lasik until the infection has resolved. why look for problems? everything should be perfect before you lie down under the laser.

Thanks very much for your response! I had a feeling this was the answer, but I wanted to ask anyways. Thanks again.
