I have read that -3D is the highest level for intacts. Will there be any more advances in the future? I am currently -4.25D and would like some more info comparing Intacts/Lasik. Please help!

you are right, intacs only treat mild amounts of myopia, and studies are looking at different band sizes, but these are several years away.

the results for the mild myopia are very comparable between lasik and intacs. given the learning curve for the insertion of the corneal rings, and the lack of long term follow-up, for the time being, my money goes to lasik.

I am even worse at like -5! You would only be -1.25 diopters after intacs, might barely be enough to drive without glasses, if not youd only need glasses to drive. I read about intacs for up to -4.5 but the intacs would be so thick that its not good for the cornea and is why its STILL not approved over -3 here. Intacs arent popular anyway and almost everyone likes wavefront lasik nowdays :)
