Hello Drs.
I recently had cataract surgery on one of my eyes. I am only 37 years old but had a detached retina that induced an early cataract. Three and a half weeks later, I had lasik surgery on both eyes. I was originally going to do lasik surgery on one eye but was convinced by my Dr. that he could eliminate the astigmatism in my cataract eye. I had very successful lasik on my non cataract eye to 20/15. However, my correction is now -1.25 +2.25 X 175 compared to -2.00 + .75 X 085 on the eye with the lens implant. My vision is very troublesome and uncomfortable due to the disparity between both eyes. The explaination for this is "decentered ablation". After reading some of the questions on this forum, it seems that this is Not so uncommon. The Dr. is surmising that the laser tracking system tracked my implant vs. my pupil. Can this happen and where can I get more information so that I can understand the tracking mechanism. Do you think that this is correctable with the new up and coming "mapping" technology that has yet to be FDA approved?
Thank you for your help.
I would contact autonomous directly. They may have a video tape or other information so that the exact cause of the decentration can be determined. Determining the cause rather than guessing would be important to you for any further treatments.
I hope this helps
