What are the basic technical concepts and or principles that cause lasik surgery to function?

The laser reshapes the eye. Patients that are near-sighted have a steep cornea, and the laser flattens the cornea. On the other hand - patients that are far-sighed have a flat cornea, and the laser steepens the cornea.
