I had a bilateral lasik surgery done in Singapore on 15 feb 2001.I was treated no a B&L 217CA (the latest generation) laser with laser auto eye tracker activated. 3 days post-op an Obscan was done and it showed a refraction of -1.50-2.50 axis 76 with 6/9 vision.I was told that I have a decentration in my left eye.
Before the surgery, I was told by the surgeon not to worry about eye movement. As the centration is accomplished by an "pupil" tracking mechanism which locks on to the pupil image and will have the laser follow any movement by the patient's eye.Eye tracker and passive monitor interrupts laser beam on movement in excess of 3mm range(1.5mm Radius).
I seeked a few opinion from other doctors, and was told that this complication is very rare or almost impossible with this new generation of lasik machine.
The surgeon who has operated on me is avoiding telling me what had happened during the surgery.
I would like to seek your opion on the likely cause of such complication from this lasik machine.
Decentrations can occur even with a tracker. I have never used the B&L laser, but other lasers have trackers and there are important steps required to ensure that a decentration does not occur.
You obviously will need to speak with a doctor who will be honest with you about how the B&L tracker works and discuss with your what steps are required to fix your vision. You should also contact the laser company to see if they can help
Best of luck
