I had lasik to correct nearsightedness 3 days ago. My doctor said that I would need reading glasses in a few years anyway. I have been unable to read since the surgery. I have some drugstore readers to get by for now. Should I rest my eyes as much as possible or should I use the readers to read as much as possible? Is there anything I should or shouldn't do to help the lasik surgery achieve the best possible results?
I have never heard that resting eyes after LASIK influences one's visual results. Therefore, you should discuss this with your surgeon and do what you feel is most comfortable

Hi B,
I am 36 years old, had LASIK 12/28/99. For a week or so after surgery, I had some problems reading my computer screen. I got some cheapo readers and wore them for a while, over time (a week or two) I found I did not need them any longer. I still use them when my eyes are tired, just because the magnification makes thing easier. I can still read the screen without them.
Give your eyes some time to heal, LASIK is an easy procedure, but it IS still surgery, 3 days is not very much time.
Take care,
Denise
