Here are my refractive measurements:
Right: -3.50, -0.25, 90
Left: -3.50, -.25, 148
Manifest
Right: -3.75 sphere only
Left: -3.75, -.25, 130

I have 3.75 diopters of myopia and .25 diopters of astigmatism.

Right cornea measures 555 microns
Left cornea measures 551 microns

With a pupilometer both pupils measured 5.5mm. In a dimly lit room they both measured 4.5 mm.

My surgeon is Claus Fichte in Amherst, NY. He will be using a Ladar Laser and will create the flap using a Moria microkeratome.

Can someone please give me some reassurance that as Dr. Fichte's office has told me that I am a good candidate for LASIX surgery. I'm scheduled Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6 to have this done.

Thank you very much.

Your readings are well within the guidelines for a good result. No one can promise you good results so discuss all risks with your surgeon.

You didn't mention if you are happy (relatively) with glasses or contacts? If you are you should wait to have the surgery and do some more reading etc. Remember....there is NO guarantee, it IS a surgery and there is at least a 6 MONTH recovery time no matter what everybody tells you. If you have a visually intense job you must take special care before having this surgery. You can always reschedule an ELECTIVE surgery.

Good Luck.

No one can guarantee you a specific outcome, but there are things you can do to raise the odds that you will be satisfied with your result.

First of all, know what to expect. If you would be happy if you only needed glasses occasionally, you have a high probability of being happy. If you require absolutely perfect uncorrected vision that is better than you current vision with glasses, you probably are not going to be so happy with your result.

Understand the important factors that indicate if you are a good candidate or not. I suggest you visit Know What You Don’t Know, What Should You Expect, Should You Do It? sections. This may help you decide what you may want to do.
