Hi,
Can anyone please provide 1-2 recommendations for the best surgeons in Boston? I am assuming Mass Eye & Ear is the best, but need a few names of surgeons. Thanks!

I don't have the list in front of me, and of course there are many excellent LASIK surgeons in Boston.
Helen Wu and Michael Goldstein are 2 fantastic surgeons. They are both at Tufts, and have excellent reputations.
Dr. Micheal Raizman is also great.
I know I have left out some other good ones, but hopefully this is a useful start.
Best regards

I have heard some mixed reviews about NEMC's lasik center, and am thinking of avoiding Wu and Goldstein (even though my optometrist is also at NEMC). Do you have any recommendations for someone at Mass Eye & Ear (somewhat equivalent to Dr. Roger Steinert)? I have heard good things about Dr. Pineda as well as Dr. Raizman. Basically I am looking for the best, most experienced physicians in Boston - all recommendations would be very much appreciated. Thanks for all of your help.

As a patient, you have the opportunity to meet more than one doctor as your consider who you would like to perform your laser eye surgery. I can tell you that Helen Wu, MD is considered one of the top refractive surgeons in the country. She gives lectures on refractive surgery at every major ophthalmology meeting and she is on the Committee that developed the "Course" that all ophthalmologists need to review when they want to get their Board Certification renewed and their specialty is refractive surgery (recertification is once every 10 years). I know that she would definitely be someone who I would recommend to a family member if they lived in Boston.
Dr. Goldstein also has an excellent reputation, although I can not name all of his achievements offhand. We have shared some patients in the past (he used to be on the Faculty at the University of Florida - so some of my patients moved to Gainseville, and he helped with their care)
The other surgeon who I can think of with an outstanding reputation in the Boston area is Dr. Raizman. He also gives multiple lectures at National Meetings. He is very knowledgeable and experienced.
Again - as a patient trying to figure out who to have as a surgeon, you have the opportunity to meet multiple surgeons and find out who you feel most comfortable with.
I hope this helps.
