My pupils were measured to be 7mm and my prescription is -3.75(left) -1.75(right), The surgeon uses the NIDEK, EC-5000 Excimerso I was wanting to know if anyone could tell me what are the chances of me ending up with poor night vision
I am not completely familiar with the Nidek laser. It is my understanding that the Nidek laser has a 5.5 mm optical zone then a large transition zone. I do not know how patients do with this type of laser who have large pupils.
The other options are with surgeons who use the autonomous laser and the VISX laser. The autonomous laser can treat up to an 8.0mm optical zone - so this type of treatment would reduce your risk of night time problems. The VISX laser has a 6.5 mm optical zone, and now has a 8.0mm transition zone. I do not know how effective the transition zone is at eliminating night time problems.
I hope this information is helpful. You will obviously need to do more research into this very important issue.
best of luck
