Iam a 32 year old male who has been wearing daily wear soft contacts for 18 years that correct my vision to 20/20. My pupils are 7.5 - 8mm and my perscription is -8.00L and -7.00R with .25 astigmatism in both. Iam considering LASIK with LADARvision and the larger 8mm optical zone at Whitten Laser Eye Associates in Bethesda MD, surgen would be Dr. Whitten. I am concerned about night vision problems after the surgery due to my pupil size. Will the larger optical zone on the Laser greatly reduce or eliminate halos-starbursts with my perscription? I am trying to find the BEST surgen, Laser and Procedure for my specific perscription, cost is not a concern. Could any doctors please advise if my choices here are good and what results I should expect. My consultaion is next week. Any advice is greatly appreciated as Iam very nervous about the who thing. Thanks!
Your pupils are large and your Rx is moderately
high. The Ladar can do large pupils but you may
not have enough thickness to your cornea to safely
allow treatment. The Visx has a large blend zone
but this may not be as effective in preventing
glare and halo's. Ask lots of questions during
your consultation.
