I just moved to Jacksonville, fl and I would like to find a good qualified dr in the area. I could not find one in your directory. How do I go about finding a dr who I can turst and I know is experiened? I have had RK 14 years ago and one eye is overcorrected.

I personally feel that surface ablation provides better results with less risk than LASIK for patients with previous RK. As well, if one does have LASIK after previous RK, it can be vitually impossible to lift the flap again for an enhancement.
I would highly recommend Robert I. Schnipper, M.D., who is at Jacksonville Eye Center. I do not know him personally, but I have heard very good things about him and he is well-regarded by other surgeons. We have spoken via email, and he always makes excellent comments on various clinical issues. His phone number is (I have it from an email he sent me).

I hope this helps

Since Dr. Trattler does not know this doctor personally, I humbly suggest that you use our 50 Tough Questions For Your Doctor at http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/tough_questions.htm to help evaluate a potential surgeon.
