My husband has had problems with his retina's
detaching and has hemorrhages. He had numerous operations on his right eye to attach the retina's, they continued to tear. For the past 2 years he has silicone to hold the retinas in place. His left eye has had laser surgery to strengthen the retinas. Last month he started having small hemorrhages and the vitreous is pulling away. His Doctor (a retina specialist) feels he may have Wagner Disease. Could you please give me any information on this disease
- what is it? - can it be cured - Is there research being done and where can he go to be treated.
Thank you for you help.

Wagner's disease: This is an autosomal dominant condition with retinal pigmentary changes and membranes both on the retina and in the vitreous. The vitreous also appears optically empty. This condition is associated with near-sightedness, peripheral retinal degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. However, the book I am getting this information from says there is no increased risk of retinal detachment with Wagner's disease
I hope this is helpful. If you are ever unsure, you can always get a second opinion.
Best of luck
