My son is 21 with high myopia (R -8.5,L -6). He has been wearing glasses since age of 6. Recently holes were discovered in his retina and these were got repaired using laser. Would it be safe to go for laser surgery. He is to travel to USA for higher studies soon. Thanks.

Dr. Seedher,
If your son's retina has been treated well and the
retina shows no new holes he may be a good
candidate for Lasik. He must be evaluated for
pupil size, corneal thickness and his surgeon here
will want to check out his retina as well.
