I have a 15 year old boy who was a preemie back in 1985. Weighing in at 1lb, 9oz, he was on oxygen for a awhile. Retinal Fibroplasia was the result. I thinks that's how one spells it.
Anyway, he had laser surgery to stop any further problems by a Dr. Hagler in Atlanta back then, but he is still legally blind, with one eye being really bad.
Can lasik help him?
Thanks,

sorry to say that you son has had the unfortunate occurence of retinopathy of prematurity- or failure of the retina to develop normally because of exposure to oxygen. there is no treatment yet available to restore the functioning of the retina.
lasik only modifies the cornea, and therefore would have no effect on the retina.
sorry for the bad news.
