2 months ago I underwent a Lasik enhancement. The following day I was told I had a flap wrinkle in the central part of my visual field. My doctor attempted smoothing out the wrinkle at that time by scraping the epithelial in just the central part of my visual field and refloating the flap. Two weeks later the wrinkle had returned so he went back in for a more thorough scraping and refloating (the procedure took a half an hour). It's been five weeks since that last procedure and apparantly the flap is wrinkle free in my visual field but there's a little wrinkling off to the side and some epithelium growth off to the other side. My doctor is very positive and says the epithelium growth will smooth out and because of what he put my eye through with all that scraping it will take about 6 months for me to be seeing clearly.

My questions are: why 6 months - that seems like a long healing period. Is this scraping/refloating procedure normal? And finally, why after 5 weeks is my eye still so incredibly light-sensitive? Is this something I'll have to learn to live with?

Removing the wrinkles are critical, and the healing process afterwards can vary depending on the amount of myopia and other factors. Epithelial ingrowth is a concern if it starts to extend into the visual axis.
Youe light sensitivity may be due to residual inflammation, and you should certainly address this with your doctor. Anti-inflammatory drops amy help, so ask your doctor about them.
Best of luck
