I have had a very crazy three weeks. OK, rundown time....-6 both eyes pre-op, proceedure done 8-25, wrinkles mostly in left eye, flap lift done partially successfully on 9/10 (about a week ago). I was upset at some of the things that happened, so I went for a second opinion yesterday and saw my original doctor as well. The second opinion was that I have wrinkles and that they are affecting my vision and that they should be aggressively treated. The original doctor, who sensed that I was unhappy after requesting my records, told me that there are wrinkles but that they are subtle and not in my visual axis. I am 20/40 right and 20/60 left, and she said that I will need an enhancement, but in about 2 mos. (three mos. from original operation). WHATTA i DO? I have heard that wrinkles are very nasty if left untreated for a while, and I asked my doc, and she said that the wrinkles will be addressed during the enhancement, and it would have harder to get them out, but that they will come out. She said as well that my eyes will be getting better, and that 3 weeks is too early to tell. One doc says do the wrinkles, and my original doc says they are not in the visual axis!! can i look in there for myself? Is she just being lazy and does not want to spend the time and effort to try the wrinkle thing again? The best plan I can come up with (since I dont know if I can request another flap lift) is to go to the wills eye institute (i am sure that some of you have heard of it) in downtown philly and get a third opinion. I am not sure what I can afford, but if it comes down to it, I can work something out. is this a good plan, or should i wait to see the doc in a month and follow her plan? she seems apologetic and seems to sense that i am not happy with how she does things. i think she knows what she is doing but i am not sure if i trust her business decisions. oh yeah, after the flap lift she put in the bandage contact n my left eye inside out, and it came out and she told me over the phone to put it back in, and told me the next day that she should not have told me to do that. (!?!?!?!!?!?) That was after the lens was all messing up my eye, flopping around in there and i surely doing nasty things to my cornea. HELP PLEASE!!! hey trish, i am sure you are reading this. our stories get more alike by the posting!!

Determining whether flap wrinkles ae visually significant can sometimes be difficult. After a flap lift - it may take a week to two to know how successful the wrinkle-removing procedure was.
Most experts feel that if flap wrinkles are visually significant - they should be removed as early as possible. Waiting only seems to make flap wrinkles more difficult to remove.

it sounds like a third opinion would be helpful. There are a few people who you should consider seeing who are experts in the Philadelphia area at flap wrinkle issues.

Steven B. Siepser, M.D is in Paoli, PA () and writes many articles about handling complications following LASIK

Dr. Frederick kremer is also extremely experienced at LASIK, and is very experienced with helping people who have had LASIK complications

Best of luck
