I had LASIK one week ago. The first day after surgery I had 20/15 in my left eye and 20/20 in my right eye. Several days later I realized that my left eye was not as good. I went back to the dr. and they said I had a couple of wrinkles and that my left eye was now seeing 20/30. The dr. seems to think that we should just leave it alone. It's not that I think 20/30 is bad, but if it can be easily fixed- I'm all for that- and I have questions, such as- might the wrinkles get worse??? What % goes away on their own?? I am supposed to go back in a few days and plan to talk more to him about this, but I would like for another dr. to give me some insight. Should I be happy with what I have or press for fixing the wrinkles? I am pretty anxious about this since I believe that time is of the essence.

Striae or wrinkles do not go away on their own - so if they are indeed affecting your vision, they will need to be "removed".
An important test is how well you can see with refraction. If your vision in the affected eye can be refracted so that you see very crisply and sharply - then most likely the wrinkles are not affecting your vision. But if your vision can not be improved with refraction, then one must be concerned about the flap.
I hope this type of information is helpful. If you are not sure with how things are going, you cna certainly get a second opinion.

Best of luck

Dr. Trattler- thanks so much for your reply. Yes, this information is very helpful. My dr. seemed to think that the risk of the procedure (removing the wrinkles) outweighed the possible gain in vision. Do you consider the procedure risky?
