I had lasik surgery on December 13th and have been happy with my results except for my night vision. It turns out that my problems are caused by flap striae in both eyes. I went in on January 12th to get the flaps lifted and smoothed out. I have noticed no improvement and it has been over a week and a half.

When I was there they said that the dry weather here may have caused the wrinkles (by my eye lid sticking etc). I have tried wetting drops, a humidifier, everything . . . and my eyes still are not better.

Please let me know what I can do. My night vision is terrible!

Striae need to be fixed!!! They do not improve on their own. So if the first attempt was unsuccessful, you will need to see your doctor and discuss having another surgery. I have found that suturing the flap works the very best at removing flap striae. This make sense - in that the flap is wrinkled and just spending 10-20 minutes may not be enough to overcome the "memory" of the flap wrinnkles. It is like if you crumple up a piece of paper and then try stretching it for a few minutes - once you stop, the wrinkles will return. But if you place a havy book on the paper, or you tie the ends down in all 4 corners and apply constant pressure, then eventually the wrnkles will improve.
I have left sutures in for 1-3 weeks, but the amzing this has been that the wrinkles have resolved within 24 hours, and the vision has also improved within 24 hours.

I hope this is helpful
