5 days post op, left eye great, just a little wrinkle in the right eye. The Dr said on a scale 1 to 4 the wrinkle is a 1/2 and should get better on it's own. Does that sound right to you guys? I trust my DR but a little extra advice helps. Thanks.
Honestly -wrinkles in my opinion are the most problematic post-LASIK problem. Sometimes small wrinkles do not significantly affect vision and thus do not need treatment. But more commonly they do affect vision, and the longer one waits, the more difficult they are to remove. I can tell you as well that it has been my experience that in general many LASIK surgeons hope that wrinkles improve on their own, but generally they do not improve. So if your vision is significantly affected, then time may be your enemy rather than your friend.
As you can imagine - we are talking generalities here - as I know nothing else about your vision. The important questions are:
1. What is your uncorrect vision in both eyes
2. What is your best corrected vision in either eye
3. When was surgery performed
You may want to get this information and post it, so that we can make further comments. Another option is just to get a second opinion. Dr. Steven R. Corwin, M.D. is a doctor that I know who answers questions on this site. His office information is:
Marietta Eye Clinic · Main Office
895 Canton Road
Marietta, GA 30060
Tel:
I hope you find this information helpful. I am always concerned when there is any postings about flap wrinkles, as I know too many patients that have had problems with flap wrinkles after LASIK
More important than the degree of wrinkles (1-4 scale) is their location. A 0.5 wrinkle (medical term we use is striae) in the center of your visual axis may cause visual problems and needs to be treated right away. A 2 graded striae peripherally can be left alone. So, the two questions you need answered are: 1)Where are your striae located? (a doctor can answer this) and 2) Do you feel the striae are affecting your vision (a subjective question only you can answer). Once these questions are answered, then you'll know if everything is ok to leave alone or if the flap needs to be treated.

Just saw a specialist this past Thursday who diagnosed microstraie and small wrinkles but said that they shouldn't interfere with vision.
But I also have central islands (giving me double images) and severe dry eyes.
What should I do?
