I am planning to have LASIK performed by a Dr. Bruce Zagelbaum, of Manhasset, NY in approximately 3 weeks. He is team ophthalmologist for the New York area sports teams (Mets, Islanders, etc). I was wondering if any doctors have heard of him and if there's anyone on this site who's had LASIK performed by him.

I have not heard of him. The doctors who I know in the New york area with excellent reputations for LASIK include:

Adam Friend, MD
Mark Speaker, MD

if you want a second opinion - any of these doctor sare highly qualified
