roger steinert is probably oneof the most highly regarded and influential ophthalmologists practicing today. i have had the opportunity to speak with him on monthly conference calls relating to lasik, where a group of doctors discuss our results and ways to improve the procedure.

i think you cannot go wrong with dr. steinert!

Julie,

Let me put it to you this way........I am friends with the author of "Beyond Glasses", which is an "out of print book" about refractive surgery (1998 & 1999). It's focus in the first edition was about PRK which is a surface ablation. She interviewed Dr. Steinert and he is also in her book.

Ask Dr. Steinert what procedure was performed on the members in his family. It is my understanding from Franette Armstrong that the procedure his family chose was the safer procedure "surface ablation" and not LASIK which requires a flap to be cut which can cause complications that surface ablation will not cause. That is not to say surface ablation is perfect..... but it has greatly improved since even the late 1990's and it is the safer procedure. Which procedure is Dr. Steinert recommending for you?
