Hello:

I'm considering one of these two surgeons for
Lasik. I'd like to hear from anyone who has
actually gone through Lasik with either.

Kantor's my regular eye doctor but I am
concerned by the way his office is run that I will
be treated like a number. While he has a good
reputation, he is not known for his bedside
manner.

From my research on the Florida Dept. of
Health website, Updegraff seems to have
slightly more training and experience. I'd need
to travel 1 hour to see him vs. Kantor in the
next town.

I did a search on surgicaleyes.org for both
doctors' names and found only occasional
references to Updegraff, and these were just
quotes cited from studies.

I didn't think surgicaleyes.org allowed
discussion of specific doctors' names or
reputations per the terms of service document
I read before signing up for the discussion
board.

If you know otherwise, please let me know. I'm
still interested in talking wtih anyone who has
had experience with these docs.

Both Dr. Kantor and Updegraff have good reputations. I have never watched either doctor perform LASIK, so I can not comment on who is better, etc.
Your best bet is to see both doctors and try to make a decision as to who you feel most comfortable with. Try to figure out who is the most available in case there is a problem. It is my understanding that both of these doctors are very responsible and responsive to their patient's needs, but again I do not have first hand knowledge, so I can recommend one over the other.
