I'm considering lasik. I have a consult appointment scheduled with Updegraph and Weinstock, they are both in St. Petersburg. Anyone have doctor recommendations for Tampa?

On their web sites, Updegraph seems much more thorough and uses a VISX S3. When I called to make an appointment I was on hold for over 10 minutes and they just set up an appointment like it was a teeth cleaning or something.

When I called Weinstock, they asked pertinent questions and asked me not to wear my contacts for 3 days prior to my consult. Weinstock uses a Nidek 3500. I have a friend that just got his done with Weinstock and he likes it so far except for some halos at night, which he says are better than the glare he used to get from his glasses.

Any opinions, suggestions, recommendations?

I have heard of Dr.Updegraff, and I do not know of Dr. Weinstock. But Dr.Weinstock may be great.
I would not base your decision only on their websites. Why not visit both doctors, and decide which surgeon you feel most comfortable with.

Thanks so much for your reply. What have you heard of Updegraph, if you don't mind me asking? He says on the web site that he has some patents, but isn't specific.

My self-measurement of pupil size is 7mm, I'm sure I'll know more after both my appointments are completed with Updegraph and Weinstock in the middle of January, but do you have an opinion on the VISX S3 vx. Nidek 3500 for 7mm pupil size?

My friend said he has 7mm pupil size, had Weinstock do the lasik with the Nidek 3500. He is seeing some halos at night, but is happy with the results.

I'm just trying to be as thorough as possible because these are the only 2 eyes I have .
