Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about IKON laser center in Scottsdale, Arizona or Dr. Jay Schwartz? Having surgery next week -need some last minute assurances.
Thank you.

I would suggest that you consider several important items prior to having any surgery:
General questions:
1. What kind of training has the surgeon had?
2. How many years of experience?
3. How much experience do they have treating the exact problem they will be helping me with?
4. Has the surgeon had any malpractice claims against them or complaints with the board of medical examiners?
Questions about LASIK:
1. Has the surgeon or just a technician determined my refraction pre-operatively?
2. Has the surgeon been the one who provided all the of pre-operative eye exam or is it just the technician?
3. Is it the surgeon doing all of the steps involved with the surgery or will some of it be done by the technician?
4. Will the surgeon be doing all of the post-operative exams or will it be the technician?
In summary, this is a very important decision for you. What kind of doctor do you want to entrust your eyes with? Is the surgeon going to be the one taking care of you or is someone less?
Thanks,
Robert N. Brems, M.D., Phoenix, Arizona

There are certainly major trade offs when going to a high volume, low price center. You should certainly weigh whether the savings in price really is worth being placed in a situation where you do not get the personal doctor attention.
1. Did the surgeon see and evaluate your eyes?
2. Did the surgeon evaluate you for dry eyes?
3. Who will examine you the day after surgery?
I am sure there are many other questions that can be asked.
Best of luck
