Paul,

There are many surgeons now in the Austin/San Antonio area performing Laser Vision Correction. Always do your homework; ask questions, such as "Who will do your surgery?" and "Who will do your Follow-ups?". In most cases, companies are coming into town with roll on-roll off lasers that will treat you at an inexpensive price and leave town only to have you search for an optometrist to treat you after the procedure. Get information packets from different ophthalmologists. Visit different websites and familiarize yourself with staff and doctors. Good Luck.

I had been visiting this forum on and off, gathering information before I had my LASIK done - and thanks to everyone for the great information. Well, I had LASIK performed by the Eyes of Texas Laser Surgery Center (Dr. L. Shawn Wong) yesterday and I couldn't be happier. The doctor met with me on every single visit which included the initial screening, 2 pre-op appts., the day of surgery, and today's post-op visit. In addition the rest of his staff is fantastic and super friendly. But, most importantly, I love my results. It has only been a little more than 24 hours and I have only occassional dry eyes - instantly remedied with artificial tears and there is still minor swelling in my left eye (which needed more correction than my right eye) which makes my eyesight in that eye just slightly worse than 20/20. The eyesight in my right eye is 20/15 and overall I see at least 20/20. In addition the doctor feels fairly confident that I will even have a small amount of additional improvement within the next few weeks as my eyes begin to completely heal.

Today, I'm back doing everything I've always done - with a few pauses to apply the necessary post-op eye drops.

I highly recommend at least checking this doctor out. He will do a free screening to determine if you're a candidate and to show what he can do for you. During that time, you can ask the doctor all the questions you want with no obligations.
