I'm very interested in getting Lasik surgery.
Any recommendations for a surgeon in the san jose or san francisco bay area? I am a student, so cost is also a consideration.

I work in San Francisco and live in the East Bay. I did lots of research on choosing a surgeon before my LASIK in January. I am 100% thrilled with the results; started -7.25 myopia in both eyes, with -3.0 astigmatism. I chose a guy named Christian (Chris) Kim, whose office is in Petaluma. I would highly recommend him, based on my own results (absolutely no problems at all!) and on the research I did on him (medical school, fellowships, etc.). Other good Bay Area choices (based on my own research and on referrals from my optometrist, who is still doing post-doc reserch at UC Berkeley's School of Optometry) are David Hwang at UCSF, Stephen Turner in San Leandro, and Mark Mandel in San Jose. Although I haven't had experience with Dr. Ellis in El Cerrito, I have heard very negative comments from his prior patients. Cost at all of these places is about $2100/eye. Good luck!

Dr. Manche has a outstanding reputation among LASIK surgeons, and was recently invited to lecture at the University of Miami. He has tremendous experience and I would consider him one of the top LASIK surgeons.
