With -11.5myopia & 7mm pupil(dilation), I must get the best LASIK doc preferably in North Bay area (also Sacramento). So far the Laser Centers I call the surgeon delegates/co-manages the pre-op & post-op eval with an optometrist. Don't feel at ease with consulting an optometrist with a procedure requiring Opthamologist training.
Dr. Neil Friedman is a LASIK surgeon who was on the faculty at Cleveland Clinic and now practices in your area (I think - I don't know California that well). He sees his patients preoperatively, performs the surgery, and then sees his patients during all of the postoperative visits.
I personally feel that it is important for patients to be examined and have the opportunity to talk with your surgeon prior to LASIK, because there are so many individual things that go into the procedure. As well, the surgeon should be participating in your post-operative care.
Dr. Friedman's photo is on the AskLasikDocs.com bulletin board pages, and his office information is:
Neil Friedman MD

Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately, Palo Alto is almost a 2 hr commute.
Sacramento would be closer (45 mi. N). Do you anyone in Sacramento?
