Do you live in Oakland?
Isn't that far from San Diego?
Please let me know if you are asking about San Diego surgeons, or are looking for surgeons in all of California.
Best regards

Dr. Trattler,
Thanks for your response. I do live in Oakland and San Diego is far from where I live. The reason why I am asking about Dr. Glenn Kawesch is because I have already schedule a consultation with this doctor in October. My girlfriend and her sister have the surgery done by Dr. Kawesch and strongly recommend this surgeon. I understand the risk that is involved in traveling for lasik and that is a risk I am willing to take. With all the information I have read regarding lasik, choosing the right surgeon is very important. What I really wanted to know is other's opinion with Dr. Glenn Kawesch. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Before traveling - you should see some of the excellent surgeons in your area. There are many who have fantastic reputations. Since consults are free - you can atleast determine whether you are a good candidate for surgery. My concern with the Dr. you mentioned in San Diego is that since he is a high volume surgeon - he may not examine you or talk with you to help you make a decision as to whether LASIK is OK with you.
Excellent doctors in your area include
1. Ed Manche, MD
2. Neil Friedman, MD
3. Ella Faktorovich, MD
4. Lee Shahanian, MD
I have never met Dr. Kawesch and know nothing about him. I can tell you that when I searched his name with google, I came across a number of news stories that are concerning. I have no idea if they are true
Here is a link to one - but just enter Glenn Kawesch in the google search engine and there are many news reports on this.

P.S. Remember - if you travel for surgery and have a problem - you will need to travel back and forth for treatment, enhancements, etc. So it is generally a better idea to find a surgeon close to home.

Check the California Medical Board website on this doctor, as well as Superior Court dockets, most of which may be viewed online. These actions will give you the answers you seek.
