My wife and I both had lasik vision operations in October 1999. Our doctor suggested monovision was the solution in both cases for "quality of life". We are both in our 60's. My case was a little bit of myopia, a little bit of astigmatism and presbopya. My wife had a little more myopia and presbopya. We both wore corrective glasses with bi-focals before the operation.
Now six and more months later I am absolutly happy with the results and if you asked me "would you go back to before" I would say "no" as I no longer need glasses and although I sometimes have minor depth perception problems I feel this vision is perfect for me.
However for my wife it is the opposite. She has not regressed as expected, according to the doctor and we spent 4 months away from home and she lived hell through this time.
Now the doctor is trying to tell her that her right eye, the dominant, is plano and when we compare vision looking say at a license plate with the right eye only while driving she does not see it until we are very close while I can from 20 ft or even more.
He has suggested she should try contact lenses before any corrections are done
With -2.75 in her left eye she feels she has perfect vision at distance but she can't read and she would need readers if her left eye was enhanced to that level.
With -2.00 she can read the paper but she claims her far away vision is similar to before the operation and when she closes the left eye she has a blurry vision from the right.
This may seem complicated and we have sort of lost confidence in our doctor who seems to be hiding something from us.
We have been at his office three times since our return from vacation and we are loosing confidence. Should we visit another doctor t get a second opinion? Should my wife opt for a full enhancement of her left eye and settle with readers? why does the doctor claim her right eye is plano when she says she has blurry vision. Don't forget I am fine and happy with monovision.

You seem to not believe what your doctor has found on exam, and in this situation a second opinion is an option - especially as it will answer your questions, etc. on what exactly is going on.

I hope this helps
