I am a 47 year old Canadian and had my lasik surgery in Canada. Prior to surgery I was
(L)-9.00 and (R) -8.00. At eight weeks (L)20/25 and (R)20/40. I was having vision trouble indoors with the right eye and my doctor suggested I wear a +1.25 contact lens to speed up regression. This seems to work in other patients. I wore the lens steady for a week and then on and off for a couple more weeks as it started to bother me vision wise. I then saw him again and now my eyes are (L)20/25 and (R)20/30. I think this is wonderful considering how bad my eyes were before.
I am wondering if it is possible that there will be more regression or if you think this is the best I will get. I am considering trying another lens in my right eye to see if it would regress further. My doctor has said that most people in their late 40's have little or no regression. I still have trouble with closeness when I am in buildings especially if I am in a store. I have a hard time reading labels, sizes, etc. I sometimes have to put on my reading glasses. I wear them for paperwork etc. I have had good and bad days but am quite happy with the results and would recommend this to anyone. The other problem I have is when I wake in the morning my vision is slightly blurred for about 2 hours then as the day continues my vision greatly improves. Is this normal?
Regression can occur, so it is impossible for me to comment on your risk of having further regression. As well, I am unaware of any studies that have demonstrated that wearing a contact lens at one month out of surgery would have any effects on regression.
I hoep your vision continues to improve
