My mother had monovision done on Nov. 17th, 2000 and I have a few questions for her. She has been unable to focus, especially close up, since the surgery. She knew that it would take time for her eyes to adjust, but did not think it would take this long. She works in a busy doctors office and has had trouble working full days since the surgery. The lack of ability to focus and lack of improvement (in focussing) since the surgery has left her frustrated with very sore eyes. I would like to know, generally, how long does it take for the average person to notice improvement and should she be worried about the problems she has with focussing...She has not even driven yet. I would appreciate any advice you could give us...Please let me know if you have any questions for me. Thank you...Julianna

Please provide more information, and I will be ahppy to answer. What is her current vision, and can her vision potentially be fixed with glasses. Although the doctor was shooting for monovision, people can end up initially over or under-corrected - and with time things often improve. Of course, your Mom may have a more serious condition following LASIK (her doctor hopefully would have explained this to her - such as infection or inflammation).
I will be happy to help, bit please tell me how well your mother can see, and also please include the current best-refraction so I can get an idea if she is over or under corrected.
as well - why things are improving, you may want to have your mother ask her doctor about temporary glasses so that she can work

I hope this helps.

Best of luck
