Dear Drs.
I'm considering Lasik, and monovision is one option. I'm 48 and have used monovision type contacts for two years with no trouble. I would like to improve my distance vision over the contacts, and I don't mind reading glasses. Can I get corrected so I can read labels, menus and other casual reading, and use reading glasses for heavier reading ,like books and newspapers?
My Rx is:
OD +.50 -1.50 x 10
OS +1.50 - 2.00 x 140
Thanks in advance, Doogie

thanks for writing back so quickly. The contacts I'm now using are:
OD: Sph +1.50 Cyl -1.00 Axis 005
OS: Sph +.50 Cyl -1.00 Axis 150

Left eye is dominant and the right eye is for reading. I have a pair of reading glasses with the right lens clear and the left eye at 1.25.
Thanks for your interest, Doogie

You can't do RK on your right eye, because with monovision that eye needs to be made slightly more nearsighted. As well, you will want to eliminate the astigmatism.
I will be more than happy to talk with you about this further (I have to get off the computer now and enjoy the beautiful Florida sunshine)
