I'm currently trying out the monovision contact lens in my dominant (left) eye. No contact in the other eye, which would be left for close up stuff. How long do I give it? I have had a 4 day trial so far, but so far am suffering from the blur, disorientation, mild headache and optical tiredness. I read about people taking a month or two to adapt, but nobody is suggesting a contact try out for that long (are they?)

I use the computer a lot, 8 hours most days working on photoshop images, and had excellent close up vision of that, without glasses, due to my mild myopia. same with reading. But with the monovision contact try-out, I am having problems getting used to one eye or the other being blurry (close up its the corrected one, far away its the uncorrected)

Currently feeling its not for me and I should forget Lasik at present, and just carry on with using my driving glasses. why swap one type for another if mono doesn't work? That would be a shame though, as seeing the world clearly without glasses is a joy when I walk on the street.

You may have to have the power of the contact adjusted. I believe you meant that the corrected eye is the distance eye. Check with your doctor before giving up. Don't have both eyes done for distance unless you are willing to give up the close vision without glasses. Take your time, the surgery is permanent.
