In your openion, does this procedure have enough history for me to have it done or should I wait until more results are available?
Is there a Doctor in the San Diego area who has had much experience in doing this operation?

The decision to have intacs versus LASIK for people with no astigmatism and myopia less than 3 diopters is simple in one manner- they both are effective at elimianting the myopia. The decision as to whether LASIK or Intacs is better is difficult, because the success rates are very similar. As far as long term results - I can't comment on the longterm risks of intacs. I am not aware of any significant concerns with Intacs, but we do not have any long term data on how the plastic rings will do in the cornea. I think they will do fine, but you will need to talk with your surgeon about this.
The one doctor who I am friends with in San Diego is Angie Oster, MD. She may be able to help you find a surgeon in your area.
Best of luck
