I am 22 years old, and have very bad eyesight. My vision in one eye is -7.50, and -8.00. I am very interested in eye surgery, but was wondering if the surgery is advanced enough to better my eyesight. Even if total correction is not possible, I am interested in any information. Also, do any insurance plans cover the surgery?

Dear Nicole,
Your Rx is correctable. It is important to know
if your Rx is stable. That is, has it changed in
the last 6 months to one year. If it is still
changing much you should probably wait until it is
stable.

Nicole,
LASIK can actually treat up to 14 diopters of myopia. I agree with Dr. Friedman - your myopia should be relatively stable before you have the procedure
Where do you live?
